Arrival: Cancun

Arrival: Cancun Intl. Airport.  You will lodge on the beach in Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean side of Mexico.

 1) Monday

Caye Caulker and Belize City

Departure to the islands of Belize.  Night in Caye Caulker.

(Drive: 6 hrs)

2) Tuesday

Caye Caulker and snorkeling.

Time to Snorkel, dive or do whatever you would like on the island. We propose a fantastic sail boat trip to snorkel at the local reef with nurse sharks, rays and more ending with a seafood dinner on the boat.

(Diving and Snorkeling are optional activities: Snorkeling 15$ Diving $50 to $90)

3) Wednesday

El Remate and Tikal, Guatemala

To Tikal Guatemala, night in El Remate by the Peten Itza Lake.

Stop at the Belize natural zoo on the way.

(Drive: 3 hrs)

4) Thursday

Tikal and Flores

A visit to the Tikal Ruins.  Night on the island of Flores.

(Drive: 45 min)

5) Friday

Lankin and Semuc Champey

To Lankin and Semuc Champey in the highlands of Guatemala. Night at a backpacker lodge.

(Drive: 6 hrs)

6) Saturday

The Caves of Lankin

A visit to  Semuc Champey one of the beauties of Guatemala and the caves of Lankin.  Another night at the Ranch.

7) Sunday

Rio Dulce and Paradise

To Rio Dulce, Guatemala, swim in the hot waterfalls of Paradise. Night in Rio Dulce by the river.

(Drive: 5 hrs)

Week 2

8) Monday

Antigua and The Pacaya Volcano

To Antigua, afternoon to visit or climb the Pacaya Volcano.

(Volcano activity optional: $12 US.  From 5 pm to 11 Pm.     Drive 2 hrs)

9) Tuesday

Antigua and Lake Atitlan

Another day in Antigua to recuperate from the volcano hike or to visit the city. Evening drive to Lake Atiltlan.

(Drive: 2 hrs)

10) Wednesday

Panajachel, Lake Atitlan

Lake Atitlan, visit the surrounding villages or just do whatever you would like.

(The visit around the lake is optional: boat ride $7)

11) Thursday

The Chichi market and San Cristobal, Mexico

To the Chichicastenango Market in the morning and drive to San Cristobal, Mexico. Arrival at night.

(Drive: 8 hrs)

12) Friday

San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan

A day to relax and visit San cristobal, afternoon to the villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan.  A day with an indigenous family in Antonia's house.  Night: Party at the Blue Bar.

(Should we mention the Blue Bar is an optional activity? Beers $2, drinks $2.50)

13) Saturday

The Sumidero Canyon and Zipolite

To The Canyon del Sumidero and then to Zipolite.

(Drive: 9 hrs)

This is also the day when some travelers will be heading back to Cancun for their return home. Arrival in Cancun at 11am Sunday(night drive by public executive class bus)

14) Sunday

Zipolite and Puerto Escondido

The Zipolite or Puerto Escondido beaches on the Pacific side of Mexico.  We will al decide together  if we prefer one or the other... Or even both.

Week 3

15) Monday

Zipolite and Puerto Escondido

The beach...Learn to surf if you are nimble enough.

 

16) Tuesday

Zipolite and Puerto Escondido

The Turtle museum, crocodile farm or just the beach again.

(Optional activities)

17) Wednesday

Oaxaca City and Monte Alban

To Oaxaca City, visit the famous market and the Monte Alban Ruins overlooking the mountains of Oaxaca.

(Drive: 20 min)

18) Thursday

El Tule and the frozen waterfalls

To El Tule the oldest and biggest tree in Mexico (2002 years old) a Mezcal factory and Hierve el Agua... The frozen waterfalls.

(Drive: 2 hrs)

19) Friday

Palenque and the jungle

To the Jungle of Palenque. Lodging: El Panchan, cabins in the mist of the jungle.

(Drive: 9 hrs)

20) Saturday

The Palenque ruins

A guided tours of the Palenque ruins including the forgotten temple hidden in the jungle and not yet restored.  Waterfalls, monkeys and more to see in the area.

21) Sunday

Agua Azul and Misol-Ha waterfalls

The day at the the Magical waterfalls of Agua Azul and Misol-Ha.

(Drive total: 2 hrs)

 

Week 4

22) Monday

Yachilan and Bonampak

To the ruins of Yachilan and Bonampak at the Guatemalan border... An hour boat ride on the edges of Mexico and Guatemala to the ancient ruins well hidden in the jungle. Night in the village of Lacanja by the Lacanja River.                         (Drive: 3 hrs)

23) Tuesday

Campeche

To The City of Campeche on the Gulf of Mexico, evening to visit the fort and the town.

(Drive: 6 hrs)

24) Wednesday

Uxmal

To The Uxmal Mayan Ruins on the way to Merida.

Guided tour of Uxmal.

(Drive: 1 hr)

25) Thursday

Merida

Day in  Merida, visit of the town , hammock shopping and night out in town.

(Drive: 1 hr)

26) Friday

Chichen Itza

To Chichen Itza and  night on the Tulum beaches at night.

Guided tour of Chichen Itza

(Drive: 4 hrs)

27) Saturday

Tulum and the beaches of the Caribbean

Visit Tulum, The Cenotes and the Virgin beaches.

(Drive: 1 hr)

28)Sunday

The end!
