  Saturday

Arrival: Cancun

Arrival: Cancun  Intl. Airport.  You will lodge near the beach in the city of Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean side of Mexico.

Info: You should arrive anytime Saturday or earlier to Playa del Carmen. The departure of the tour is planned for the next morning at 8am.

Hotel: La Rana Cansada or Hotel Hul-Ku.  (You can select your preference), Playa del Carmen.

1) Sunday

Tulum and Laguna Bacalar

The adventures begins...  Snorkel in Akumal beach with the great sea turtles.  Swim the in the fantastic Gran Cenote near Tulum. 

 Info:  We will then depart in the afternoon to sleep at the hotel Bacalar near the Belizian border.  The Hotel is located on the beautiful Laguna of Bacalar where we can also swim and enjoy the view.

Snorkeling gear rental is optional

It is also possible to visit the Tulum ruins  (Optional activity 4$).

 2) Monday

Belize City and Tikal

Enjoy and swim in the laguna in the morning and departure to Guatemala at around 10am.  We will stop for lunch in Belize City and then to visit the Belize natural zoo.

Info: We will stay the night in Tikal national park near the ruins.  The visit of the Belize zoo is an optional activity (8$)

3) Tuesday

Tikal and Flores

Visit the magnificent Mayan city of Tikal in the morning and then we will spend the night on the island of Flores.

Info:  Our local guide will meet us at the hotel for breakfast and then join us for a guided visit of Tikal (included).

4) Wednesday

Paradise and Antigua

Early departure to Antigua with a stop in Rio Dulce, Guatemala, swim in the hot waterfalls of Paradise. Night in Antigua.

Info:  You will have the late afternoon to visit and walk around Antigua

Note: It is also possible to fly from Flores to Antigua to enjoy more free time in the ancient city (Recommended).  The flight is optional and has a cost of approximately 120$ USD.  The flight option will have you arrive in Antigua at around 9am. By road we will arrive near 4pm with stops and lunch along the way.  By chosing the optional flight option you will have time to climb the active Pacaya volcano near Antigua.

5) Thursday

Antigua and Chichicastenango

Free time in the morning to continue your visit of Antigua. We will then depart at around 10 am to the famous Chichicastenango market.

Info:  The famous Chichi market has once been the greatest exchange market in this area of Guatemala.  It is now however mosty aimed towards foreign tourism.  The site is still quite impressive to this day.

Our hotel will be located in the city of Panajachel, near the Lake Atitlan surrounded by 3 amazing volcanos.

6) Friday

Panajachel,  Lake Atitlan

A journey into the past, as we walk around the lake to admire the local wildlife and indigenous communities. We will also visit the local market of Santa Clara or San Antonio la Laguna.

Info: We hope that you enjoy boat rides because it's the only way to reach the villages. 

we will then depart to Totonicapan to meet local families and spend the night with them.

7) Saturday

Chiapas, San Cristobal, Mexico

On the Road to Mexico, as we travel to the highlands of Chiapas.

Info:  We will visit a family of weavers in Totonicapan  before we depart for Mexico.

A passport is required to travel from Guatemala to Mexico and border crossing fees are not included. You may have to pay 22$ USD for passage. We should arrive in San Cristobal at around 4pm.

You will have the evening off to walk around and have a nice diner out in the town of San Cristobal

8) Sunday

San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan

Visit San Cristobal de las Casas in the Morning and the villages of San Juan Chamula in the afternoon.  We will spend time with an indigenous Mayan family in a home of Zinacantan

Info: You can also visit the local market in San Cristobal, an authentic and mysterious place where you can find the most bizarre food on display.

Week 2

9) Monday

Agua Azul, Misol-ha and Palenque

Swim the magical waterfalls of Agua Azul and Misol-Ha as we hit the road once more to the Mayan city of Palenque in the jungle. 

Info:  As we drive thru the mountains of Chiapas you will admire the greatness of the landscape and the thick tropical forest of Palenque. Don't forget your bathing suit.

10) Tuesday

The Palenque ruins and the Lacandon Forest

Visit Palenque in the morning with a local guide.

Info: We will meet our local guide for breakfast at around 8 am from where we will depart to the arqueological site of Palenque.  We hit the road once more after lunch to see the Golondrinas waterfalls in the Lacandon forest and then spend the night in a lodge by the La Canja river in the jungle.

11) Wednesday

Yachilan and Campeche

One hour boat ride on the Usumacinta river will bring us to the site Mayan site of Yaxchilan on the border of Mexico and Guatemala.

Info: we will then continue to the city of Campeche on the gulf of Mexico.

12) Thursday

Merida

Late departure to Merida, Yucatan. you will have all afternoon to enjoy the city and visit the famous anthropology museum.

13) Friday

Chichen Itza and Playa del Carmen

Early departure to Chichen Itza to visit the mysterious Mayan city. We will then continue on to Playa del Carmen to end this fantastic adventure.

The end
